I will be taking a ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor in July and will be bringing my rental car. How far ahead do I need to book?

Book as early as you possibly can. July is peak season for the San Juans, and the Anacortes route is one of the busiest in the Washington State Ferries system.
Here's how the ferry releases spots:
- About two months before your sailing date: the first big batch of car spots opens at 10 a.m. PT. This is your best shot at the sailing you want, and it can get busy, so expect a virtual waiting room.
- Two weeks before your sailing: another batch opens at 7 a.m. PT.
- Two days before your sailing: the last batch opens at 7 a.m. PT. It's worth a look if you're booking late, but don't count on it.
